You could move your radio to the lower position below the heater controls with a suitable mounting I guess

Personally, I am not keen on half measures - how about a proper 8 track player and holders?

Or even better - in the 60's you could fit a small front loading record player that would play 45's - fit one of these and you could fabricate a small rack to hold a selection of your favourite singles. This could fit nicely on the passenger side dashboard

A 66 MkI Cortina I bought years ago had a record player in it when I bought. Unfortunately I couldn't get it to work so binned it and put in a radio cassette ( this was in the late 70s).

I would have bought the holder for the lower part but I'm not going to move the radio for the sake of a holder.
