I bought mine for £600, about 6 week later it was written off when a BMW rear ended me. The 3rd party insurer paid and after telling them I needed a 1997 or 1998 fairly high trim level in good nick they offered me £1500 for it. They knew it had over 165k on it! (I did buy it back and fix it). But I will be looking for a policy with a agreed valuation in the future.

I think we have to be careful when describing cars as classics or collectable when we are enthusiasts for that particular car. I have written about this in the club magazine and my view is that the 940 is not a classic, nor remotely collectable. What it is is a car of utility, and very good ones command decent money for a small minority who value it's range of abilities - near zero depreciation and low running costs.
Average and poor cars ("a good workhorse") will only attract tradesmen who value the load capacity and cannot afford or want a good van. Values are only rising (if they are) for only the very best cars. Jon Last edited by CTCNetwork; Feb 24th, 2018 at 12:30. Reason: One more time. |

My car is on a classic insurance policy. Ergo, classic.

Going to keep the old beast. Would have been a sad sale anyway. Think il try to keep this one on the road for as many years as i can. Thinking of doing the underneath of the car with por15 (when it gets a bit warmer). also i have the spare engine il rebuild that & either keep it as a spare or sell on.
