I recall reading various threads about water in the bulkhead and windscreens coming lose. From what I recall some were getting water in the bulkhead without the lose screen issue and others were only getting the screen coming away. The fix for the water problem in the bulkhead is to drill holes. I do not recall anyone that did it themselves as they were new enough to still be covered by warranty. There must be a quite somewhere on line though. The fix for the screen was to remove and reseal or replace if it didn’t come out in one piece.

Hi the fault you have is water getting into the box section directly under the front screen, it taken in water as the sealing was missed in some places when made, you can drill small hole both ends and jack it up to one side and get the water out, then let it dry out and fill with wax, the water was getting in on one side or both near the A pillar.

Hello I found this link to the instructions sent by Volvo to the dealers, no sign up or charge was required, just scroll down to the grey box, click on it and you can download the 5 page PDF. https://www.tsbsearch.com/Volvo/TJ-20698

Hey folks, I have just dealt with this issue on a customers car and at the time couldn’t find the technical data for the infamous “drill point location” and so had to figure this out with trial and error. It was lucky hole number 5 that hit the jackpot. Thankfully I used 2.5mm drill bit so only tiny holes to seal up with a compound that turns to rubber. Anyway for those who are being driven mad by the water noise or the search for the information on where to drill, see below.
I did not go the wheel arch route I went at it via the plastic scuttle panel at the bottom of the windscreen as i read others had had success there. I removed the wipers, battery cover, scuttle panel, battery, battery tray and finally the plastic tray at the bottom corner of the windscreen that has a drain flap built into it, it’s just clipped in so pull out. Where you need to drill is exactly behind that tray. The first hole I drilled in the right area was a little to high. The water poured out but I knew there was still some left so I drilled another hole lower down but above the sealant line as you can see in the pic. Anyways hope this helps some folks, was interesting finding the location. Cheers folks Last edited by abra cadabra; Jan 28th, 2021 at 12:34. |
