South Hants Garage, Southampton
As a new (to me anyway) Volvo owner I thought I'd done the research and chosen carefully when looking for a garage to carry out the 48k service on my 4 year old S60.
With an MOT imminent I also asked the guys at South Hants to give the car a once over so as to avoid any nasty surprises at the test. They gave it a clean bill of health and I received a tyre condition report showing all wheels to be legal. That was a fortnight and 200 miles ago. Yesterday I had the car MOT'd and imagine my surprise when it failed the test on tyre condition. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen the condition of the tyres with my own eyes. The inside shoulder of each front tyre was totally bald and there was actually a strand of cord showing through one of them! So not only were the tyres illegal but also a serious alignment issue was highlighted too. But not by South Hants Garage who apparently have different standards to the MOT test boys! Makes me wonder what else they missed and whether I was wise to choose them in the first place. I won't be going back again and you probably shouldn't either. |

I would recommend you try AUTOFIX(North East) Limited Algernon Ind Estate Shiremoor NE27 0NB Tel(0191)252 2355 They are Volvo Specialists and most helpful. I use them quite regularly and think they are great. Most of my Chums use them what-ever car. Regards Bas. Last edited by cumbrianmale; Oct 28th, 2009 at 23:46. I personally would not use a non-franchise garage. My experience of them is that they may be cheaper at first but they are usually not as well trained as the Volvo guys. My S40 was in a local garage for repair and it ended up going to the Volvo dealer because the local garage couldnt fix it. The dealer fixed it really quickly but it cost me so much more than it would have gone to them in the first place.

RT Mechanics
Hi,
My first post to the Volvo forum, but I searched on here to find a specialist and want to help anyone else looking for someone in Surrey/ Hampshire / Sussex area. Took my C70 to RT Mechanics in Haslemere with an engine management issue (turned out to be boost sensor) - all sorted with minimal fuss and very reasonable cost. My local mechanic couldn't suss out the diagnostics but RT managed fine, and I have to say customer service was spot on - I'll definitely be booking the C70 in there for future work. |

I can recomend CP Motors in Polesworth nr Tamworth, they are all main dealer trained and have all the gear, they also break Volvo's and have a massive amount of new and used stock.
Very pleasant to deal with too, very friendly. Rob |
