During a strut swap, which included replacing my drop links, I was careful to seat the hardware and tighten the nuts.
I had terrible clunking.
How much I had to tighten those nuts amazed me.
I cured the clunk.

Links in the trucks in my life, both Fords -a '97 F-150 and a '05 Ranger- are the "bolt and sleeve" type. Much simpler and less expensive.
I understand that truck frames have more room, such that sway bars (anti-roll bars) can be designed 'straighter'.
It's a luxury for the mechanic as no elaborate counter-holding is involved.
