Have to say I would not agree with you there 4’s
More a case of having a second pair of hands. Even with me operating the fob and Danny mucking about with different screwdrivers it took the best part of 15 mins with Mr Hyab getting increasingly impatient with the time it took ! As ever grateful for your original post damn shame I could not make it work solo - it hurts when I cannot resolve issues myself - bloody gear knob removal is knawing at my sanity !!! |

Anybody going to be brave enough to add an extra + lead somewhere that is easy to get at and safe at the same time. Some modern Volvos that have the battery at the back apparently have a lead under the bonnet for jump starting.

If you've got a towbar isn't there a permanent live in the second socket?

Would be interested if anybody has found this to be a resolution |

Simplest thing to do, to prevent this in the future, would he to add a cable from the power eyelet on the bonnet catch. Make it long enough so that it can reach an accessible point on the bottom of the car (fog light wiring brackets for example). Should your bonnet cable ever break, or your battery die as in this case, you'll be able to open the bonnet by simply pulling the cable.
I believe someone already posted the link to the more detailed thread. It's something I keep meaning to so but always forgetting about - if I do eventually have a crack at it I'll add some additional pictures to the original thread.

Positive connection into Pin 2 and negative connection into Pin 3... If you only have a single socket this method will not work If you have a 13 pin socket then connect the positive into Pin 9 and negative into Pin 11 Always check with a multimeter before making any connection to the socket

I fitted a 12V Anderson connector point on my sons MX5/Eunos, the car has a very small Yuasa gel battery and even though in good condition the alarm flattens the battery in a few days. I fitted the waterproof female connector on a hidden underside edge bracket with the cables going back to the battery via separate grommet sealed holes next the boot handle (its hidden from view by the lip of the boot) and use a male connector from a regulated combined starter, rapid & trickle charger to charge or boost the battery. It can also be used as a convenient point to plug in a solar battery conditioner hiding the solar panel cable around the boot edges. I bought several connectors at the time to fit to the C70 & V70 to get round the problems with the batteries going flat, I just haven't got around to fitting them yet! There's plenty of room under the rear of the V70 to find a hiding place - could easily be done for the C70 and 850's using a waterproof female on the front valance.
