Very tidy A registered red estate heading east on the M40 between J7 and J6 at about 1400ish today. Couldn't get a picture because I was westbound at the time. Made me smile though...

Silver 240 estate in Lowton.
Spotted today ( Saturday ) about 13:10 hrs.
Silver 240 Estate on Newton Rd. ( A572 ), Lowton heading towards Leigh. I was heading the opposite way. Put my hand up but didn't see any response. It was a lateish model ( didn't see reg ) but it had Tors style stripes on the bottom of the doors. Colin

Here where I live in southern Ireland there are very few old volvos. There is a 1990 740 turbo diesel estate. looks like a workhorse.
A 1995? 440 Very scruffy. All of the other volvos are much newer V70, S40, S80, S60 etc. You see more newer volvos than old. It must be because the tax on the older ones on the engine size for a 2.3l is 895 euros per year where as the modern diesels are cheaper to tax. Taxable on their emmisions level. My 240 GLT is the only 240 I have seen in Ireland James |

Three silver saloons within half a mile of where I live in Walton-on-Thames; a D-reg GLE, an F-reg GLT and my G-reg GLT. All look very clean.

This thread amuses me, how long will it continue on for I wonder? And here I am now helping it do exactly that!
Anyhow, on the main thoroughfare out of my hometown of East Cowes on the Isle of Wight parked on a chaps driveway are two 240's one estate and one saloon and alongside are two 740 estates. Clearly unused and sat for some time, two or three years at a guess. However, all four vehicles appear in fundamentally sound condition at a glance. I must knock on the owners door and ask him 'what the crack is' so to speak. |
