Volvo S60 2003 D5 Dim faults
Lucasz,
Just brought the car from auction yesterday and on the way home the dashboard completly failed. On searching the internet and joining this forum i have found out that this seems to be a common fault. I seem to have all the problems everyone mentions about the DIM failing and your name crops up quite a bit. As i have just joined i can't send you a private message and this may sound stupid but what do i actually need to send to you, where do i send it, is it £50 plus 2 year warranty and how do i pay you. Hope you can help Thanks Lazza |

Volvo V70. 1999 T5. Etm problems.
Just wanted to say a big thank you to Lukas my T5 had started to display the ets light and engine management light. When the light came on the car would run but felt like it was surging / lacking fuel it also was dropping into limp home mode. I saw lukas advert on the volvo forum and he exlained what the problem would be. He was very friendly on the phone and i was confident to send off my etm for repair. The very next day it arrived back and now that it is refitted the car is running perfectly. As lukas advised the tickover was a little high for the first few minutes but then it settled down to a perfect tickover. Once again a big thank you, and i would have no hesitation in recommending your services to anyone. Cheers Tony. ( Glasgow )

Replaced ETM and still it surges!
Hi Guys.
My 193,000 mile, January 2000, V70 Classic 170 has had an ETS light come on a few times in the last week. This puts the car into limp home mode and is a right bugger to drive. Today I went to my local scrappy, (the excellent Headswood in Denny who deal mainly in Volvo's and are really helpful) and found a V70 Classic like mine. They removed the yellow stickered ETM which they assured me had been working fine and was previously refurbished. I put it on my car and the ETS light stayed on and the engine surged and had the rev limiter cut in at 3000 rpm just as before. On restarting a few times and revving it a bit, the ETS light is off but the rough idle persists and the car, oddly, seems much faster than I ever remember it being. The throttle seems to go from 0 to 40% as soon as I put any pressure on the pedal, and then it runs really well, but there is no ability to feather the throttle so smooth driving is not possible. The Cruise refuses to engage as well, which is usually a symptom of the ETS failure. Idle surges from 750 to 1200 every second or so. I was planning to use this temporary part from the scrappy to keep the car running while my original is away to SPOKOLUZIK to get fixed. However I am now wondering if I have another issue rather than the ETM. I have an ELM327 but no software just now so I can't read codes. Any thoughts?

Also regarding our phone conversation about cutting off randomly i suggest to check all wiring in engine compartment and earth connection bolted to both wings. Did person, who diagnosed problem, run etm position sensor test?? and if so what was result of it?? What is alternator voltage?? |

Aaarrrggghhh
Hi Lukas,
My '52 plate V70 is starting to play up. Airbag warning message displayed, clock and tripmeter backlight gone and engine management light on. Could these all be due to the cluster going down. If so, can you PM me your details so I can send it for repair. Cheers Gordon |

Hi Lukas,
Just bought my car at the weekend (white ETM label) and I have already encountered some intermittent problems, including being unable to rev past 3k on a motorway hill, despite having my foot right down and only this afternoon it just wouldn't accelerate from cold but then suddenly picked-up. It's very slow and feels like a 1.4 mated to a ships anchor at the best of times. Idle is rock steady at 850 rpm. I have no dash warning lights and the only codes (from a friends snap-on reader) were: 6805 Turbocharger (TC) Control Valve, Boost Pressure Fault, Pressure Too High. 130A Intake Air Leakage, Faulty Signal. I've ordered a new control valve, haven't a clue what 130A means and I'm not sure if I have an ETM issue or what I have described is related to the faulty TCV. Any thoughts? Can't PM as I'm new on here. Cheers |
