Our other car is a Skoda Yeti, and the lock/turning circle seem very good for a fwd car. Checking online the turning circle is 33' 10" as compared to the V70 at 40' so I was concerned that I'd really notice a huge difference with our P3 V70 after reading reviews. In reality I don't get caught out very often - just sometimes!

Never underestimate the smugness when the “it’s not a real Volvo finger is being pointed at you”. Meanwhile, my Not a real volvo can out steer a “real Volvo”

There was a big difference in turning circle between my 02 S60 and my 2015 V60 Cross Country. My Subaru has an even tighter turning circle than my old V60CC. The Subaru even out turned my old V50, it’s stupidly tight

I remember the Herald and my Spitfire turning circle well! The tyres would almost scrub when on full lock.

"Which do you guys think is the better car the V50 or V70/S80? " from OP
What do you want ? Newness or space ? Newness V50, V70/S80 Space V70. V50, S80 Quality: V/S 70/80 V50 The P2 platform is better than the Ford Focus V50 but that's not to say the Ford platform is bad, there are still plenty of Mk1 Focus running about. If you can find a clean P2 V70 or S80 with a full book of stamps that's what I would go for over a V50.

I looked at a 2006 v70 and loved it but was put off by dpf issues so ended up with a 2005 v50 from the same main dealer. This was 10 years ago.
The v50 replaced a v40 I had, being the 3rd v/s40 I owned. The v50 felt solid and well built but had its fair share of problems in the 10 years owned. Whilst it’s not a big car, I could actually fit longer lengths of timber in it than I can in my merc Vito long wheelbase, due to the folding front seat. Boot opening aperture is better than the v40 and the loading sill is lower and level with the boot floor which makes it easier to load than a v40. I’ve replaced mine now but still have it until I can move it on. Sunroof drains have caused too many issues for me. If I was in the market for a petrol Volvo estate I would go for the v70. |
