Volvo XC60 T8 2019 plastic sqeaking
Hello.
Is it normal for volvo squeaking of the black glossy pillar plastic? It happens in hot or sunny day. So everytime I open and close the doors with touching this plastic it squeaks. I dont find this acceptable for the car of this value. https://youtube.com/shorts/KuzUTkQJlK8?feature=share |

It's not right but it sounds like whatever holds it on has dried out assuming it's bonded. That or it sits on a sponge backer and that's gone brittle.
I notice you have a deformity in the rubber window seal?

Hello. Where you ser this deformation? They replaced rubber seal around windows later, but the squeaking sound still remains.

It's not right but it's normal unfortunately. All kinds of high(er) end cars do this. Audi, Mercedes, BMW, Volvo... some sooner than others, but most of them will develop some kind of plastic squeak very soon, like in a year or so.
Factories could make it good, but that wouldn't be cost-effective nor environment-friendly, so they don't. It's a combination of plastic used + materials it's bound to, they stretch/contract at different rate on hot/cold so they squeak. I tried caring for plastic since day one, using plastic-compliant greasing on parts where they touch other parts to keep it lubed, but nothing helped. On some parts that that I took out to check I found out it's the plastic itself: you take a piece of plastic out, it's all in one piece, nothing else, just that one (big) piece of plastic, and when you bend it slightly with your hands you can hear it squeak. My end-of-2015 XC60 squeaks more or less the same as my brother's 2-year-old Audi A6 does, and more or less the same as my friend's 1 year old Nissan Juke, and a lot less than my mothers' 7-year-old Ford Fiesta. My neighboor's 2-year-old Mercedes C-class is also on-pair with my XC60 squeak-wise. Some are always parked in garage, others mostly outside (so exposed to more sun damage) but that doesn't seem to make much difference...

Thank you for your kind answer. Its bad/cheap feeling when you enter and exit the car and touch this plastic. Its completely ok, when its cold outside but when its hot its annoying. I though mine Volvo made in China has this. Maybe other models, which are made in EU or USA use better plastic or there is more care when assembling.

This would indicate said panel has been removed before if you didn't do it and not been fitted back properly probably due to broken clips.

I never touch that part of the door so not sure why you would?? I use the door handle.
Also, Chinese built Volvos are built in exactly the same way, using exactly the same parts as they use in every other country.

You always touch it when you close the doors… From my experience when I compare my friends and fathers eu made Volvo they do not have such issues with plastic squeaking and rattles as mine does.

Have you owned the car since new? Asking because if it was a design flaw or poor material choice - this would be widespread - and I can’t say I’ve noticed this on any SPA/CMA cars - or that I’ve seen anyone else reporting it earlier. Suggesting there was earlier damage/work done on that door.
