Dashboard, media and climate unit cutting out!!
Hello,
I'm rather new to this and after some help please I own 2 Volvos, today I had my 2008 V50 D5 2.4 serviced. I've had the car about 2 months and she drives great. After the service was completed I gave her a full tank of diesel as I was planning on taking the car to my brothers wedding about 170 miles away. Driving about today the Dash board cuts out and the speedo stops working and I get a few alarms flash up they happen at different times. While the dashboard looks dead I'm unable to change radio volume or the climate fan. I even parked up turned the engine off and the radio was still going with warning lights stuck on the dashboard fear of the battery running flat if I had to leave it for a long time. Whilst stationary or driving these appear on the dash. "brake failure" "ABS" warning light "park assist service required" "SRS Airbag service urgent" "Traction control" warning light While the above is going on I'm still able to drive the car with no issues just not able to check the speed I'm doing and not sure how much fuel I have. that's the dreaded cem plug loosing contact did they replace the cabin filter on your service? if yes they have disturbed the cem plugs try cleaning and re seating the plugs if that dose not solve it you may need to source some new connectors for the plug. available from volvo.

Hello
Yes they did replace the pollen air filter after googling that and watching a quick vid they must have nocked the connector, I will investigate tomorrow. Hopefully its a quick fix Thanks for your help. |

As Simmy said, its odds on that they have disturbed the cem connectors.
Remove and clean all connectors with contact cleaner and a toothbrush then refit and hopefully you should be good to go.

make sure to disconnect the battery before disconnecting any plugs or you may end up with more codes and faults showing . do you have any access to diagnostic equipment to erase any fault codes or emls
