Default This is odd (ULEZ)

I was just browsing through AutoTrader having a gander and come across this 61 plate V70 D3.

What I found interesting was the advert said it was ULEZ complaint and there's a picture in the gallery of a webpage saying that it is. I thought must have been a mistake because its a euro 5 diesel with start stop (not a euro 6).

I did a bit more "digging" via Transport for London's website and it turns out that its actually compliant to drive into the ULEZ zone? I've never seen that before. I thought it was only euro 6 diesel's that were compliant.

Oddly enough, I checked another car which has exactly the same engine and is the same year, but that wasn't compliant. Very odd.

This is the one that's ULEZ compliant...

Here's the one that isn't. Note, its the same car, just with less miles and its R design spec (not that R design affects emissions).

Interesting...

I thought the same, that’s odd and annoying. My S80 with the 2.0 D3 136bhp is only £160 to tax for the year and 129G co2 and obviously isn’t compliant. What makes that one so,

Unless it has a history, does it have some sort of exemption? Service car? Doesn’t look like it from the spec of it tho.

The ULEZ-compliant one has CO2 Emissions of 149 g/km.

The non-ULEZ-compliant one has CO2 Emissions of 159 g/km.

Perhaps that's why.

Its odd though to have different emission levels when its the same car, same year even?

I don't know if it has any exemptions. The advert doesn't mention it...

The R Design is an older car with the non-Sensus infotainment system.

Additionally, the wider, lower profile wheels will offer more road resistance, which is to the detriment of emissions.

I've heard of some older Range Rover diesels being compliant as well. Very strange.

Just double checked by D3 from Dec 2013, not compliant still.

Bazare. Nothing in history of the example is strange either, just mega miles for first ownership.

I don't believe the earlier silver car to have Start/Stop technology even though it's stated in the ad.

I'll hazard a guess yours doesn't have S/S either, Graham?

Yeah it’s got start stop, it’s also an auto.
