Default S60 Dashboard Issues

Afternoon All

I having issues with the instrument cluster on my 2002 S60 its almost dead apart from engine management emission, seat belt warning light when I turn the ignition on then they go off. I have no speed display revs or fuel or temp gauge.

I have installed a reconditioned unit that had been programmed to my car in hope of fixing this fault still the same problem. I have checked the wiring at the back all seems ok.

Any ideas on what could be?

Thanks

Likely to be dry joints on the processor chip on the instrument panel. Have a look at this thread http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=143579 The chap has a glowing reputation on the forum.

Hi the unit I have in there has already been reconditioned so DIM its self not at fault.

Worried it maybe an issue with the wiring loom or something.

If your new DIM isn't at fault, presumably your old one wasn't either if your symptoms are the same so why did you change it?

Problems here do seem to revolve around the DIM itself as opposed to the various feeds and should therefore be your starting point. You say it is a reconditioned unit so should review who did the work, (some a great deal more capable than others,) and how it was recoded to your car! These units are notoriously difficult to swap over. Just my thoughts for what they may be worth.

Yeah the fault is the same from old DIM to the New one so it looks like the DIM not at fault which is frustrating hoping this was going to be easier fix.

Seeing as the CEM is the focal point of most things electrical, I'd be looking there with some contact cleaner and a toothbrush.

You have to weigh up the cost of having the codes read which should pin point the fault vs. spending time and money repairing / replacing parts on the off-chance they may solve the problem.

I know hopefully it will pin point the issue with what's wrong.
