Default Door handles/freezing weather

Keep having the same problem when we get over nice frost.

Does open but the driver sides doesnt shut properly when I close the door, it just bounces back open. A little bit of warm water around the door handle seems to solve it, however is there a long term solution?

Silicone spray. WD40 will just dry up, so not worth using.

Apply silicone spray a few times to the area/part of the handle that you can see when the handle itself is stuck open. Close the door, open it again & keep applying spray to the handle until it retracts as it should.

I'm not aware of a permanent fix, as its only appears to be an issue in colder weather due to temperature changes.

There is a WD40 variant containing silicone which would give penetrant capability and lasting silicone lubrication. I used it on a seized bonnet latch switch and it slowly found its way into the seized areas and freed the switch mechanism. Silicone spray alone might have also done that but I offer the information for what it's worth.

ACF50 works a treat on these door handles. It's what I use on all moving latch components that may be subject to water/freezing/seizure.

Yes, there's a WD40 silicone spray which can be used & works well.

Ordinary WD40 that doesn't contain silicone would be no good though, in this instance anyway.

I've used the WD40 PTFE spray. Can't say yet whether it solves it. It's available from Screwfix.

I had an issue around actual lock on door and could see frost around that a couple of weeks ago so that got a good spray as well. That was once I'd managed to pull the door open.... Shut lines now coated in a good sealant spray.

Iv sprayed all the lock mechanisms and door handles with some silicone spray. Handles feel smoother but still got the problem with the door latch.

Iv had a look, it looks like the fixed latch bar (on the car body) is not engaging the latch on the door card when the door is shut. Instead it's just bouncing.

Literally had to drive for 30 mins this morning holding the door to stop it from swinging open.

Is it worth taking the door card and latch off to inspect? Is it s common issue? Should I use grease instead?
