downsize?
hi , i currently have 20 inch rims on my XC 60, if i want to downsize to 18 inch rims, is it just a straight forward process as taking the 20 inch ones off and putting the 18 inch ones on or is there something else involved....

Use an online tyre calculator to work out what tyre size you'll need to compensate for downsizing rim size.
Get in touch with a volvo dealer to make sure your trim level of XC60 can take 18" wheels over it's brakes |

Even in you establish that smaller wheels will fit, be wary of aftermarket wheel sellers. Many may advise that as long as the bolt hoes line up all is OK, or that a spigot ring will correct any variations (it won't). Some companies appear to either not understand the subtleties of centre bore and offset, others may depend on the premise that the customer won't understand, and pulling the wool over their customers' eyes.
Pay no attention at all to the various online 'equivalent' wheel size databases, to which many wheel sellers link. They nearly all had blatant errors last I looked, at least for Volvos. Safesat bet is to buy original Volvo wheels, expensive as it may be. Or stick with what you have. |

^^^^^ Wot they said.
You will need to work out what profile tyres to fit to keep the overall size the same or recalibrate the speedo to allow for the different size. Also if that car doesn't come with the option of 18" wheels at point of sale you will have to inform your insurance Co of the change which could be costly. Why the need to fit smaller rims? |

was thinking of smaller rims as there seems to be less choice for 20 inch rims
