Default V70D5 Oil Dipstick Conversion

First Post, but very grateful for all the useful info posted here which has helped me in the past.

The family has 2 V70 D5's 2012/2014. I read here about the manual dipstick conversions and thought it a great idea. There was one complete kit on ebay and another tube without the dipstick so I bought those parts separately, volvo tube but non-volvo dipstick (no Volvo ones on offer and this has identical top part and sold as V70 D5)
The Volvo labelled dip stick has a 47cm blade. The non-Volvo one has a 49cm blade. I tought I would just shorten the non original one so it conformed to the Volvo one, but then had doubts.
Could anyone who has this conversion tell me the correct length of blade?
Thanks for all the past help!

Not an answer , BUT, when I bought mine 3 years ago, I was convinced I needed one of those, absolutely. Bought one fitted it, then found that the car uses absolutely no oil at all, and have only looked at it twice since fitting. Top tip, only check the level after it has been standing ALL NIGHT, otherwise you will end up putting more in than you need.

I have fitted the conversion, the correct dipstick should have the yellow top. Red topped dipsticks are for the older engines. They were longer as the tube is different if I remember correct. I can’t measure mine as I’m not near the car at the moment but I can’t see why you could not shorten it. You will loose some markings off the bottom perhaps but you could easily notch your own.

Also note you don’t fill the car to the max line on the dipstick. To XX marks is enough. No more than XXX otherwise you will get system service message for overfill.

Thank you both, really userful.
I think I just like the reassurance of a physical check (because I am old).
I will alter the red top to correspond to the yellow.
(I see that the kits are back on ebay-when I bought mine it said it was the last one or I would have not bought the tube and dipstick separately)
