I’m looking to fit my Dashcam to my s60 b5, does anyone know if there are any power points in the rear view mirror that I can tap into, so I don’t need to route the wire through the trim?

Cheers in advance.

On my 2018 v90 cc there is power to the rain sensor, there are threads on here about using it.

I power mine up via the OBD Port, my dashcam is usb Mini, they do a micro usb as well. Saves chasing the wires all over the car, tucks away very nice around the window and down to the OBD.

REARMASTER Universal OBD Power Cable for Dash Camera,24 hours Surveillance with mode switch button (mini-usb) https://amzn.eu/d/09G0zWo

, if I was going to buy a new dashcam id get one of these.

The simplest, easiest access way to go is through the side of the centre console and then add a line off the back of the 12v socket.

Really easy to do, takes 15 mins and easily reversed.

There's a thread from about 3 years ago that shows that.

I routed the feed for mine by removing the off side A pillar cover which was far easier to remove than other cars ive installed cams on then under the glove box to the center consul. I am currently providing power from a USB socket in the lighter socket but will eventually hardwire to the source below which again is easly accessible by the removeable access panel.

I do like the 'intigrated' look of the Fitcamx dashcams.

If the car is under warranty I'd strongly advise against cutting or tampering with any wiring.

There are plenty options to power cameras using an OBD port adapter, without the need to tamper with any existing wiring.

I fitted one to my S90 this week. It only took a couple of hours. (that included fitting a rear cam as well.

I used the NextBase fitting kit and plugged into the fusebox. Hardest thing was getting behind the carpet to get into the fusebox.

Mess with the intellisafe at your peril, I strongly advise you to not go anywhere near that big black cover the mirror sits against.

Just run the wires tucked into the headliner and down the pillar (pick the tab out and there's a bolt behind it holding the trim on) to the fuse box and piggy a live with the red and bolt black to one of the screw threads that can be found on the dashboard frame.

Should you go the way you are thinking you risk knocking the camera calibration out and it's not cheap to get it put back right.
