Default Rear Wheel Arch and Sill Seal

I’ve noticed a lot of mud collecting in the rear wheel arch seal so at the weekend I took the seal off and cleaned it out. Unfortunately. Now the seal is very loose and just basically flaps around.

I did a search on the forums and can only find threads about the mud collecting on the door and the additional dirt deflector that can be fitted, that said my issue must be a common one.

Has anyone fixed this issue without replacing the seal? I considered sticking the seal back on with silicone but because the seal has widened it would need to be filled and it would be a real bodge!
Also, does anyone know the sill and arch part number?

I’ve added a couple of photos of the seal on the car and also a photo of the part diagram with the part circled if anyone can assist with the part number.

Many thanks.

It would help if you could give us details of the model and year of your car
From the diagram it appears to be an XC60??
Did you have the mud deflectors fitted before noting this problem?
I do not think you have much option but to replace with the pukka Volvo part but otherwise Google Woolies who sell a multitude of rubber profiles
I do not have this problem but have the mud deflectors fitted.

Thanks for the reply. It’s an XC60 2019. No deflectors fitted.

I’m happy to replace the seal (if it doesn’t invoking taking too much of the sill apart) but I cannot find the part number. I’ve spent ages googling stuff but the best I can find is the attached part diagram.

Any assistance much appreciated.

Look through this thread, post #6 shows part and part number for a fix.

Unfortunately that’s not the same issue. My issue relates to the actual wheel arch and sill seal coming away from the bodywork.

Can anyone assist with the part number for the seal?

Many thanks.

Hi Georgy
Did you solve this.
Just bought a 2018 XC60 two weeks ago.
First wash & clean and note the same issue with loose rubber trim on rear wheel arches to rear doors. Just item 8 that’s the issue here.

Ok - Volvo manufacture and can supply what they call mud flap part no. 32288517 at a cost of £34.02 including parcel delivery. They are easy to fit and utilise the same fixings as the wheel arch liner. Nb., they are not what I would call a mud flap but more a mud guard!

EBay - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GENUINE-V...edirect=mobile

GENUINE VOLVO XC60 MK2 REAR WHEEL ARCH DIRT DEFLECTORS 32288517 LEFT & RIGHT. Sold by Caffyns

I didn’t replace the rubber trim, just carefully cleaned it pushed it back on with a couple od dabs of silicon sealant.

So far so good.
