AAOS - 2.10 is coming
Just spotted this one today
Updates in software 2.10 Software release date: 2023-06-19. The software will be available through OTA within two to three weeks after the software release date. Updating the software to the latest version also includes previous updates. The map in the driver display is now stabilised in the centre. Minor drivetrain optimisation. Not affecting performance, certification, homologation or environmental protection. https://www.volvocars.com/ie/support...-release-notes |

For plug in hybrids there are two additional points:
- Added scheduled charging (Late MY2022 PHEV only). - Improvements to prevent loss of heating function for PHEV´s with high-voltage coolant heater. |

I had the 2.10 update yesterday due to the driver map display not working. The Tech told me the same timescale as the OP.
Mind you the 2.09 update failed four times to load, leaving me having to drive back from Scotland over two days with no safety system (had abs) including cruise control. It was weird driving without them. Shows how you become accustomed to the safety features. |

Shame.
We thought 2.10 (or even 3.0) would be a big update. Seems 2.9 had more features than 2.10 does. Although, interesting one is the HVCH in PHEV, there are LOTS of reports of failing heating units when running in Pure mode (over on SwedeSpeed). So I wonder what the software fix is... |

Bizarre numbering.
2.10 does not come after 2.9 in any other system.

It's just version control; no reason why there can't be 10, or 11, or 20 minor versions before the next major release.

Except it's not normal tech practice where 2.9 is the same as 2.90 (or 2.900 for that matter) so 2.9 is 8 versions on from 2.10.

It's perfectly normal major/minor version numbering (the dot used in versioning isn't a decimal point).
There are other formats, such as YYYY.MM.version (for software on a monthly release cycle, often with multiple updates each month - Tesla use this), however major.minor is what Volvo have opted for. 2 represents the major version, and will be increased to 3 only when a fundamental change is made, e.g. a refresh of the UI, or an upgrade to a newer major version of Android. When we see 3.x that may be worth getting excited about, as it may (and should) bring us to the UI we see in screenshots for the EX90 and EX30 (assuming Volvo don't just leave older AAOS cars behind, - which is what I'm expecting given their very reluctant approach to even bringing back features the cars had with Sensus, let alone actually capitalising on the switch to AAOS and bringing us new features or tangible improvements). Perhaps more likely is that 3 will represent an upgrade of the underlying Android OS in order to maintain support and security, with little in the way of tangible benefits to drivers. Until then, the minor version will keep incrementing, so there's no reason why we wouldn't see 2.11, 2.99 or even 2.101 (except that in practice, we'd probably see a new major version before we get as far as the latter two examples).

So 2.10 became available for our MY23 XC90 this morning and I updated.
Since then there's only been one short journey, and I've noticed that location in the app is not updating (so it is showing up as still being at home). When the car arrives home, I'll check the permissions (e.g. location sharing) have not been reset, but has anyone else updated and seen this? Actually I'll probably try rebooting the system by holding down the main button too.
