Default Pollen filter

Hi,

I doing a service and trying to change my pollen filter found this very useful guide

https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showt...=pollen+filter

I understand it is for a different model but sounds useful. Unfortunately I cannot see the pictures I get a photo bucket error?

Can anyone assist? I am struggling to get past the fuse box and don't want to break anything.

Thanks Greg

Left hand drive and on an XC70 but the same procedure

Have a scan through the other videos from VolvoSweden. Very helpful.

Cheers

Sadly Photobucket have stopped hosting pictures unless you pay them, so years of useful forum pictorial advice has been degraded. The years of work lost is tragic. This blight has been visited upon dozens of motor support forums. It is a betrayal of trust and must influence how pictures are posted to forum sites in future to avoid this situation.

Totally agree!!

I have not personally ever posted using photo bucket, this is more due to my lack of computer ability than anything else.

But for them to make such a change after years of use, in this manner, is completely immoral and I hope everyone removes their details from it. Thus instantly destroying their business model.

The rest of us can upload pictures and hope forums do not follow suit.

The volvo filter is £36 there is a LandRover filter that will fit for about £15 but not sure of its part number.

I know I paid for a new filter last service at volvo dealer and 2 days after the service found desicated moths in the filter and enough dust to warrant getting the airline out and blowing it off. I suspect it's an easy fiscal expansion claim as very few check, I know I will in future.

Got mine from Eurocar parts online with their never ending 60% discount think it cost about £15 as well. Wouldn’t go to Volvo unless an emergency

If using aftermarket parts, ensure that you buy decent brands like Mann for example & don't buy the cheapest ones you see.

Its also worth noting that the volvo filters have a charcoal layer the ones half the price don't . You always get what you pay for with the genuine parts .

Sometimes after market parts are cheaper than the branded OEM parts because they are badly made and of poor quality but sometimes it's simply because the branded OEM part is marked up with a user fear factor. Sometimes the OEM part is to a specific OEM spec that has some element of design protection and is therefore unavailable on the after market but often the suppliers to the OEM brand holder are reputable manufacturers and the parts are actually to their design embodying their expertise and are available under the after market brand at a cheaper price to exactly the same quality. Seeing which auto manufacturers use Mann filters leads me to believe that their specs are equally trustworthy to the Volvo branded items. I've used Mann filters for years and they certainly appear to be of high quality. I suspect the true and fair price of a filter is better reflected by the price of Mann filters than the Volvo items. This train of thought does not apply to cheap Chinese knock off parts!
