Default Free windscreen repair!

Just had an e-mail from Volvo, stating they will do free windscreen repairs , to Volvos only, and if not repairable the option to replace with genuine, through insurance. so booked mine in, and I'll see what happens.

I e-mailed my local dealer at 8.20 am to book in for a wee warranty jobbee, and 8.24 am woman phones up to confirm. . All sounds too good to be true.

I adore my Volvo, and love popping into the dealerships…. For coffee. I actually pop in some times with my young daughter, help myself to coffee and we sit down, watch some tv and do some colouring in.

But I have found the dealerships far far better at free coffee and colouring in then actually doing any work….

I think most people struggle to book in a service let alone get free work done, we shall see…

I'm intrigued as to what this offer actually is. Through your insurance?? How can they offer that? That's something you would need to have already in place. Through their insurance? That would be interesting. Please can you explain more, or better still, copy and paste the T&C's?

from the T&C's:
"You will be advised as soon as possible if the damaged can be repaired. In the case where the windscreen is unrepairable, you will be offered the option of chargeable replacement. Where applicable, the option to have the replacement through your insurance company will also be offered."

Where applicable. That old chestnut...

And if their windscreen company doesn't happen to be the one specified by your insurance, there will be a charge.

Thats isnt usually an issue as most insurers don't specify.

Yebbut, you would only go if the screen was damaged? If they fix t, then it’s a win! If they can’t , then it’s still a win, because you don’t have to get them to replace it. If it’s damaged in the field of vision, it’s an MOT failure anyway, so still has to be replaced by someone. If it’s damaged outside this area, and is not bigger than the set diameter, but unrepairable, then leave it for a while. I can’t see what the problem is?
