Default Software updates/Wi fi XC40 B Plus 2023

Hi,

I notice I’ve got a few updates regarding the software, however I don’t seem to be able to connect to the Wi fi.

I’ve tried connecting via the house connection, mobile phone and cars modem.

None of the above allowed me to connect and thereby update the software.

Has anyone got any tips? Also has anyone managed to connect to Wi fi via the cars modem?

Thanks

Default Possible issue

I’m new to this and can only answer from a sensus point of view and I don’t know if you are Google or not.

With Sensus there are three options to get the software update from the car:

Connect your phone via the white surrounded usb socket and in settings/communication use mobile device to connect to internet,

Or

Be close enough to connect to your homes Wi-Fi,

Or

Using the cars modem.

The later is a confusing term as it uses the cars P-sim (personal sim) located in the boot. This uses 4G or 5G mobile phone signal to then connect to the internet. As long as you have activated the sim you are good to go and don’t need it "connect " it to anything else.

I would always urge caution doing the usb update from the Volvo support website if you are not tech savvy.

I have the 2024 B4 and can’t connect to home WiFi. I’ve read somewhere (perhaps the owner’s manual) that the car can’t connect to certain types/specs of WiFi. Volvo doesn’t do very well in the computer tech and internet of things dept in my opinion. But the car will still download the upgrade package via the embedded SIM and proceed with the update. Mine is just updating as of now.
