Default 98 v40 mot fail, options

Hello,

My Volvo v40 1998 got reversed into by a supermarket delivery man. As much as he was mortified, it didn't stop me having a bad MOT failure, bent in bonnet and smashed head lamp.

It seems I'm past the plentiful spare parts phase with the car, and my usual garage is hesitant to take on the work.

Here is the report:

Do not drive until repaired (dangerous defects):
Offside Rear Anti-roll bar linkage attachment bracket/mounting fractured (5.3.3 (b) (ii))
Offside Rear Anti-roll bar insecure and impairing directional stability (5.3.3 (a) (ii))
Repair immediately (major defects):
Offside Rear Axle swivel pins and bushes swivel pin and/or bush excessively worn (5.1.2 (b) (i))
Exhaust system insecure (6.1.2 (a))
Steering rack has excessive free play detected at the steering wheel (steering rack fitted) (2.3 (a) (i))
Headlamp aim unable to be tested (4.1.2 (b))
Headlamp not working on dipped beam (4.1.1 (a) (ii))
Exhaust carbon monoxide content at idle exceeds default limits (8.2.1.2 (b))
Exhaust Lambda reading after 2nd fast idle outside specified limits (8.2.1.2 (c))
Parking brake efficiency below requirements (1.4.2 (a) (i))
Monitor and repair if necessary (advisories):
Various corrosion to chassis and suspension components
Front Bumper damaged
Oil leak
Nearside Front Tyre worn close to legal limit/worn on edge (5.2.3 (e))
Offside Front Tyre worn close to legal limit/worn on edge (5.2.3 (e))
Nearside Rear Tyre worn close to legal limit/worn on edge (5.2.3 (e))
Offside Rear Tyre worn close to legal limit/worn on edge (5.2.3 (e))
Offside Rear Axle swivel pins and bushes swivel pin and/or bush slightly worn (5.1.2 (b) (i))
Offside Rear Child Seat fitted not allowing full inspection of adult belt

I think the steering rack is just bushes as not knocking. The parking brake is probably easy, and the loose exhaust is probably a spot weld. The emissions will probably be ok if i can give it an Italian tune up.

I know it's probably not an economical repair, but Id like to save it if possible. Does it look really bad? Anyone know somewhere in Manchester or as close as they can recommend? Maybe on the drive, as I can't drive it.

Regards

Sorry to hear of the accident surely any frontal damage is down to the supermarket insurers to sort? That in turn would sort the headlamp aim/none working dipped beam and front bumper? The first two failure points could be addressed by replacing or repairing roll bar bracket. You seem to have an oddity where the rear axle pin or bush are excessively worn while at the same time are slightly worn Emissions you could try throwing some fuel system cleaner at it and an Italian tune up.Handbrake and exhaust system shouldn't take too much to sort.Tyres of course will need replacing if not immediately then depending on mileage you do sometime soon.Seatbelt one is easy just remove child seat[tester is not allowed to]or Ibelieve if you leave it in place then they can't fail it as they can't test it[someone else will know better than me on that one] the real killer is any welding required unless you can do that yourself or have a friend /relative who can as that can get expensive very quickly.

I have some headlamps and tyres left over from my V40 days, if they're useful to you.
