Hello, I am in the middle of replacing my PCV system on my 2001 V70 2.4 petrol none turbo. I have replaced the PCV box now and am refitting the inlet manifold. There is a shortish u shaped pipe that feeds from the left of the manifold to the left of the PCV box! The pipe is new, genuine Volvo. For the life of me I cannot get it on the manifold, there is almost no room to get your fingers in. Does anyone have any tips?
The old pipe had a hard central pipe with soft rubber outer but the new one doesn't have the hard bit. Any advice is appreciated. |

Hi mate, out of interest did you buy the bits you needed as a full kit ?
I'm thinking about doing the pcv on my v70 2002 non turbo 2.4 as preventative maintenance, and I can't find the parts as a full kit for my car |

I did the PCV job yesterday on V70 2001 bifuel. If it's the roughly L-shaped hose coming from the round top part of the PCV box on the left. The plastic tube of the sensor on the left of the intake manifold is supposed to go inside that hose. I had to reuse the old hose because I didn't have a new one available. I also couldn't initially pop that tube into the hose manually, but then I oiled the tube up a little bit, positioned it roughly where it should eventually be, and placed the inlet manifold on the three partially unscrewed lower bolts. The tube popped right into the hose. I guess the hose is rigid enough that it has nowhere else to go.

Oil trap: Professional Parts 21438023. It already had the middle right hose that goes into the engine block. That hose didn't seem to be easily removable and I didn't want to break it. Lower adapter: Gates EMH113 (rubber looking part to engine) Top hose: Gates EMH543 I reused the hose that goes into the sensor on the left of the intake manifold. Intake manifold gasket Corteco 026233P. Throttle body gasket Elring 394.130. Injector O-rings 5 pcs Elring 925-500. |

I called FRF Volvo in Swansea and asked for a kit and they said they would put something together. It had the box, the long hose from the top cover, manifold gasket, the short piece that fits to the inlet at the bottom of the block, plus this u shaped hose. They didn't send an ETM gasket or injector or ring. It wasn't cheap though, think it was £170 with the forum discount. They sent hose clamps which I haven't used as I don't have the pliers.
So the U shaped hose on the left - this goes from manifold to the left of the PCV box. So should this have a solid pipe inside the rubber outer? Seems odd that the hose doesn't come like that from new? I assumed it was just a new design. Thanks for the parts numbers , I may order the o rings and ETM gasket if I can find somewhere that will deliver quickly. When I took the old PCV system out the upper port to the block was pretty gunked up and I cleared it out, but the lower port wasn't too bad. I was using the Dyson to hoover up some dirt from the lower port - and ended up sucking a load of engine oil from the sump into the hoover by mistake. I took this as a good sign that the port wasn't blocked and I didn't have to drop the sump cover. I had to dump the Dyson as dirty oil had got into the filters and inside all the hoses. I cut the box open and it did have some gunk in it but wasn't blocked by any means. I am hoping after all this palava that the problem is sorted. |

If memory serves me right, I had to fight it, but I did get it in. It required force.
Btw, the thing that looks like a sensor is a pre-heater during winter time(or some colder temps) to prevent condensation entering the intake manifold and thus engine. |

Just had a quick look before going off to work. The U shaped hose has a inch long piece of hard plastic pipe inside the top which can be pulled out with some long nose pliers. I will try reusing that piece later. Which of course means removing the manifold again

Another thing, I either had the sensor in the manifold with the hose before putting it on the car, or I had the hose ready and dangling so once the manifold was on, I could slide it in no problem. It just needs some oiling to get it in easily.

Which sensor are you talking about. My manifold has an outlet on the left, but no sensor. I think my issues lack of access for my hand to slide the hose on, I can just about get my fingers but not enough. I will try again later

I finally got this hose fitted, it was very tight though.
