2015 Volvo V60 D3 Diesel D4204T-9.
Any suggestions on this one, on light acceleration engine kicks or jumps, on hard acceleration everything is fine. No fault codes. It was suggested that the MAF sensor was faulty. It's strange I replaced the existing MAF sensor with a known faulty one the car runs perfectly but throws engine check light on, replaced the faulty MAF sensor with a new one and the car starts hesitating on light acceleration, with no fault codes I don't know which avenue to go down so I'm open to any suggestions/ help on this one. |

Behaviour that you described sounds to me like O2 sensor problem. At least, that's how it started with my car. In the beginning, only light acceleration was jerky, later I started to feel it under havier acceleration.

Did you ever get to the bottom of this issue?

I’ve occasionally noticed something that sounds similar with mine. Tho mine is usually at steady speed.
I’ve datalogged it and found it seems to co-inside with the EGR actual position overshooting the desired position. I’m guessing the valve is starting to get clogged/sticky and plan to clean it in the near future. The broken MAF in the OP probably “fixes” the problem because the car needs the MAF data to run the EGR system, so doesn’t try to move the valve with a broken MAF.

I had this issue - slight hesitation around 1500 - 2000 rpm.
I changed the fuel filter - no change I removed and cleaned the injectors - no change I cleaned the EGR & Cooler - no change I cleaned the inlet manifold - no change I sprayed Turbo cleaner into the Turbo - no change I added 2 bottles of Injector cleaner - no change Someone on another forum had posted their EMAP pipe being blocked, it's a metal bendy pipe which comes from the exhaust and has a sensor on top of it. You can access from the top, the sensor is near the right side of the firewall. Mine was blocked with soot, I used a bicycle break cable inside cordless drill and slowly removed the soot - took about 1hr. My issue has been resolved - hopefully this helps someone else. |

i have a similar issue on my recently acquired V60 D4 2.4 AWD
at steady state, when engine is just between power and liftoff, the engine starts jerking. is not very bad but annoying i havent started looking into the engine bay because i got 12 months warranty and will try to get the dealer to sort it out. reminds me a lot of EGR related troubles i had on other diesel engines. for the rest the car drives extremely smoothly. so probably not transmission related... hopefully. i will look into deleting the EGR valve actually. i dont give a rat's butt about NOx (proof that it is bad is questionable to say the least) and no exhaust check on EURO6 vehicles in suisse. |
