Good afternoon all.
It's been a while since posting on these forums so today I have something different.. well for some people anyway. A few people may be aware of what I am showing below, if so and you can expand on this subject It would be great to educate more about the way Volvo's are programmed and calibrated. All information and software given below is installed with as standard with Vida/Dice(genuine). I am posting this information for two reasons, one to help others and two, hopefully to get some feedback which may help me. I've done some extensive searching to no avail. So here we go: Vida dice comes with an application called Flight recorder. When all else fails, after normal diagnostics. Parameter checking etc. A Canbus log may be required in order to trouble shoot software bugs etc. Volvo dice drivers come with an application called flight recorder. Within this we can load a config file onto the Dice SD card. By using a trigger lead shown below, when a particular fault appears, for example "hesitation", "stall", "rough gear change". You can press the big red button and dump all the Canbus commands seen on the network at that particular time in accordance to the config file configuration. Once the test drive has been completed you can then extract the file from the SD card in the Dice unit. This file will be encrypted like below and is best opened via the flight recorder application. This application will decrypt the file and allow you to extract High speed/Low speed or both Canbus data logs. You can then extract and save the decrypted data as a .asc file. From this point unfortunately we become stuck. I believe Volvo must use another piece of software in order to decipher what the hex means. This is the point in which I ask if anyone else has any experience using this. There doesn't seem much information online regarding it. |
