I would have it in a heartbeat as I have seen the results if your in the unfortunate situation which mean you are able to claim against it.

In the event of a total loss of a car within the first 12 months of registration almost all insurers provide a brand new replacement vehicle to the same specification as the one which sufferred the loss.

The advantage of this is: You get a brand new car which the Insurer can source very quickly and the finance is transferred to that vehicle. It could be the case you have 10,000 miles on the clock and get a new car with newer registration mark which means the final value of the vehicle at the end of any credit agreement is higher.

Its all down to your own perception of risk. What is the chance of you having a total loss in your car after one year when the replacement clause of your insurance doesnt apply in a vehicle as safe and well built as the xc60?

NFU give you two years new car replacement with their policy should you unfortunately have an accident.

and from memory when i looked into this a while back, there are GAP providers that will cover from 12 months onwards - so when the insurer no longer provides it - so you have a year to decide...
