Hi Bob. The 230E is listed only as '85-'86 which doesn't seem right and also the BHP says 131 which isn't right for those years anyway...
I'm pretty sure those years had 136BHP but I haven't got all the info...

I am beginning to regret starting this as there is so much that is not clear from the many records I have read. Small changes were made to the same engine type depending what model car it was put in, and what country it went to, yet it kept the same type number. This is especially so with the 1800's and Amazon's. What a nightmare.

B230E data is correct, but the year should run to 1990.
Also, B230FT, '89-'98, LH 2.4 B230ET, '85-'89, 182hp @ 5800, 192lbft @3400 B230FK, '94-'98, 2316cc, LH2.4, 135hp @ 4900, 170lbft @ 2300, 8.7:1 B200F, '89-'95, 1986cc, LH2.4, 111hp @ 5700, unknown, 10:1 B200FT, '89(?)-'95, 1986cc, LH2.4, 155 @ 5600, 170 @ 3600, 8.5:1 B204E, (?)-(?), 1986cc, LH2.4, 139 @ 6000, unknown, 9.7:1 B204FT (?)-(?), 1986cc, LH2.4, 190 @ 5300, unknown, 8.2:1 I assume the V6's are missing due to them being a joint design? |

How's it correct? As far as I remember the B230E had three different horsepower ratings through the years. Mine's a 133BHP but the first few years where 136BHPs and I believe the last years were 131BHPs. I've got some sales brochures at home, will try to verify...

As far as I'm aware the B23E was the 136bhp version with the 'K' cam from 1981 to 1985. The original B23E in 1979/80 had a less restrictive exhaust and an 'H' cam and gave 140bhp.
The 'new' low friction engines introduced in 1985 included the B230E at, as far as I know, 131bhp only. Like you I'm only going on the data that I have access to, so it could well prove to be that the B230E was offered with other power ratings. |

B200e is down as 85-85 on K jet,
It was also in the 360 from 86-89 on LE jet, but don't have any other information to hand, after the B19 Bob... you must be mad, but will be a great resource.

The B19A for the 360's both used a Stromberg CD175 carb, and I'm almost certain they were both 9.5:1 CR- as the official method for 95unleaded was two head gaskets and a longer water pump stub.
The early engine used clockwork ignition with points etc, and the 83 on used the Renix computerised ignition. Both were rated at 92bhp AFAIK. Tim.. |

Hello,
I am missing the B204GT engine. The 2.0 litre 16 Valve TIC engine that produces 200bhp en was sold in some (not all!!) European countries, Italy on top. Wart |

I'm not sure I envy you this task, but you have some oddities in there.
You list a B18 engine as a sub species. As far as I know they were alway B18A, B18B or B18B. in addition to the 120, PV and P1800 it was also used in the early 144. The B20 came in in 1969. PV and Duett only got B18 A and D never the B18B 120 got B18 A, B and D, then B20 A and B from 69 on 1800 got only B18B then from 69 on B20 B, E and F, never the B18 D or A 140 got B18 A and B only never the B18D. From 69 on again B20 A and B with B20 E. as far as I know no UK 140 came with the B20F, it was E version only, but they did in the US, similarly the USA never got single carb B18 or B20. Before you know it this list is huge.......... 1975 240 still got the B20 A or F in some markets There are all sorts of weird sub species of the B19 B200, B230 engines missing, part of that refers only to whether or not there was a cat, but there are FD, FX GK, GT, G You're missing the PRV, B27A E and F, B28A E and FB280 E and F You're missing the D24TIC, D24T and D24 You're missing the B110 and B130 out of the Volvo 66 And once you get into 340/360 it gets really confusing because Volvo started to duplicate. 340/360 used B14, B19, B200, and D16 440/460 used B16 and B18 480 used B18 and B20 I wonder if it should be divided into a family tree? B4B, B14A B16 are one branch, all closely related. You then get the B18, B20 and B30 which are all closely related. That family morphed into the OHC redblocks B21, B19, B200, B23, B230 PRV family with B27, B28, B20. 6 Cyl Volkswagen diesel D24 family Then the whiteblocks. even there there are sub species, the 850 used B5254/52/34/04/04 all 5 pot whiteblock. Similarly the 960 used B6304/6254/6244 but they're all a 6 pot whiteblock |
