Leaky turbo and blocked DPF
My 2012 V70 has been diagnosed with a leaky Turbo and blocked diesel particle filter. The garage says it needs a new turbo and about £770 worth of clean out for the DPF. The car is on 215,000 miles.
Sadly it feels to me like the end of the road for my Volvo as it looks like I won't get much change out of £3000 to get these issues resolved, more than it's worth. Does this seem correct, or should I get a 2nd opinion? |

a working DPF will clean itself, and if not it can be forced to do it. .

Agreed - it might not be the turbo that's leaky, but one of the hoses that split to start with (costs peanuts, I believe).
And DPF filter will either get cleared itself once it's all good - or forced regen should do the trick. So yes, definitely worth getting second opinion. |

Thanks for this. My local main dealer seems to just swap out, so I'll search for a specialist.

Found a garage who thinks it could be the intercooler pipe. Car being looked at on Tuesday. Will keep you posted with progress.

Might I advise all posters that including the details of their model and spec in their signature ensures that it is displayed in every post they make and then everyone knows to what car they are referring without having to nag them every time for the information which enables others to advise them on the matter which is important to them. Always help others to help you.

Thanks for the advice Tatsfield, I will update my signature. FYI 2012 V70 D3 Lux.
But also thanks to Clan and Krzemien, the garage I found identified that the Intercooler pipe was leaking, fitted a replacement, total cost £330, car now working fine. |

Wow, this really makes the point doesn't it. Glad the Volvo dodged the grim reaper!
