following the recent media frenzy regarding meteorite images captured on car dash cams and the outrageous incidents captured on them involving crash scams [see youtube],i was lucky to receive one as a birthday present- 1080p high def with g-sensor and date time stamp facilities, easy to fit and all for about £30 on line. small and discreet and may save a fortune in increased premiums as i understand the scammers particularly like targetting 4x4's with female drivers. , i must say i feel much better protected with it than without it.

What make/model is this? Was looking for one to record greenlane adventures but most seem to be round £150 that record HD video...

Default Car Cam reviews

Hi folks,

Take a look at the reviews that this chap does - first his youtube site: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLFB79814F24001328

This here is his own site: http://www.techmoan.com/

I find the reviews both honest and amusing; I myself have the sub £40 'SmartCam HD' - for the £££ it is OK but as ever with technology each month I see a better one appearing on the market...

BR,
Graham

yes it starts up and shuts down with the ignition via the cigarette lead supplied,it records in a 3 minute loop and records/saves a file if activated by the g- sensor to the mini sd card or manually if you wish via a button, my daughter bought it on ebay i believe for me for around £30, it has a 2.7 inch screen, not sure of the name, but its nice and compact, easy to fit and tuck in the glove box if you wish when not using it, it has a time stamp too which is handy, all the leads come with it including cigarette power/usb lead for transferring files to a computer.
i think its a great gadget and does definitely give you a sense of protection from scammers or dodgy drivers making wild accusations.

i bought a SMart Cam 2 - also reviewed by Techmoan ^^^ above. The first 2 were dodgy, but the 3rd one i received works fine. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Smartcam-2...item23290e5bb4

i used a class 10 card in the first 2, but it didn't like mine, so they sent thier card and it appears to be working okay now.

Has anyone found a neat way to wire in a dash cam into any electrics near the sunroof/rear view mirror assembly?

I use my mobile phone(HTC One). Installed an app called Caro0 Pro(https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...an.prime&hl=en) and a cheap mini Blutooth OBDII Elm327 interface of eBay(http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/161026483994), £13 in total, works real well.
