For anyone wanting to have an ETM refurbished try:www.autotekelectronics.co.uk. They charge £35 for the initial inspection, then quote for the necessary refurbishment cost. Nordic are £325 + VAT for a new ETM and Autotek will be much cheaper and give either a 3 or 12 month guarantee on their work.

Thanks for the link.
Have you had yours refurbished then? Do you know what they did, if yes? Previous discussions on refurbishment have concluded that it's be very difficult to lay down new contact strips and then get the potential right for the unit to work in-line with the expectations of the rest of the management system. Refurb
Hi,
No I haven't yet. I am taking my car to Volvo today to have the 'clean' and software upgrade. My engine warning light came on yesterday on the way back from a trip. So hope that turns up some error codes for them to analyse and advise. I spoke to Nordic last week to get a price for a new unit and although the re-furb sounds of interest, I would be very cautious anyway. The question is how good is the company at re-furbing?? Will know more on my car later and will post info. |

Visit To Garage
Went to the garage. The mechanic said that there was very little 'dirt' in the ETM to clean away. But they were unable to load the software because the Volvo server in Sweden was down. The 2 fault codes which came up were relating to injector (possible dribble) and catalytic converter.
So I have to go back when they have downloaded the software upgrade to their machine and then work on the fault!!! |

What a pain having to go back. I find it difficult enough fitting in the annual service. Not the dealers faul though. Keep us posted on how things eventually turn out.
