Default S40 Fog Light problems

Hi,

My 1999 S40 is playing silly monkeys with the fog lights.

If I press the fog light switch within the first 20 minutes of a journey they come on (light comes on the dash and the fog light come on). If I press the switch after 20 minutes the dash light and the fog lights don't work. This is really annoying as I hit the fog patches 30 minutes into my daily commute.....

I have my lights on properly (not on daylight running).

Any suggestions would be gratefully recieved!

The first thing that springs to mind is the relay is on its way out.

This will sound like a stupid question - but where is the relay housed?
I will check it out and replace it incase it is that.

Try with the DRL's on, depending on what position your light switch is in the stalk/switches operate slightly differently.

Hi,

My headlights are on the correct settings. I have recently checked the switch pack, bulbs and fuses - all ok.

So I am left with the relay and the harness as possible causes. Based on the fact that they occasionally work, I think it is probably a relay issue.

I also now know where my relays are.............. I just don't know which one is the correct one for the fog lights.

Any ideas as to which is the correct relay?
