Default Random Shut Off...???

My 2010 V70 2.0D is randomly shutting off. I have visited the local Volvo dealership and got the car diagnosed, and also an independent Bosh/Volvo shop doing the same. With zero results on the fault codes.

During normal driving all the warning lights come on, and the tachometer drops to zero, and the engine stops. This happens on almost every trip I take, yesterday it stopped three times in as many minutes...

The car won't start after these stops, so to begin with I disconnected the battery to reset the computer. And the car starts right up again. However, I have discovered that I can reset the fault by taking the key fob out and back in again, and then press the start button, and it fires right up.

This leads me to believe that there is something wrong with the key fob receptacle/start button, or the key fob itself, because the car behaves as if I turned the ignition off. I changed the battery in the key fob, to no help...

Anyone in the Forum that has experienced anything like this? Does Volvo have a history of weak or faulty key fobs or receptacles? Why doesn't this trigger a fault code? Because the ECU sees it as a "normal" ignition switch off (due to a faulty component)? the "experts" are just scratching their heads...

How easy or difficult is it to get the key fob receptacle out of the dash? Is it just to pry it out? Is it replaceable without re-programming everything?

Anyone in the Forum that has any idea?

I don’t know if this is similar as if was on my old P2 V70.

That would cut out randomly and needed the ignition turning off and on to restart. Easier job on the move as it was a traditional ignition switch.
That turned out to be an intermittently faulty lift pump in the fuel tank.

Like I say, may be a curve ball as it was the older E3 D5 engine on the previous platform.
