Default Brodit bracket installation

Hi

I just bought a phone holder "no holes bracket" that was advertised as Brodit holder arm for S60.
I thought the installation would be simple, but now that I got it I am reading the instructions and they say I have to unclip the gear shift surround, unclip the heater controls and remove the radio to fit it!
Has anybody done this before? I have seen a couple posts on Brodit holders but no details.
I've got two left hands when it comes to this kind of work; is it complicated to do so?
How would I start? how can I unclip the gear shift surround?

I have had several for volvos and I have never had to remove any trim or radio for brodit holders. I currently have 2 in my V70. 1 is the 'correct' one that is to the left of the centre console and is just stuck on. I originally had 2 of these 1 for the parrot kit and 1 for the phone (to view sat nav). The second one was removed as the weight of the phone caused it to unstick (even with cleaning the surface). I have sinced removed the top one and replaced with a s40/v40 one which is clamped but still does not need anything removing. Ihave noticed that the quality has slipped for the phone holders. I bough one for a htc phone which had a nice soft finish but this seems to have disappeared on the last 2 cradles i bought. I still think they are a good solution but very expensive.

I am beginning to wonder if I have been stitched up. This is the advert for the item I bought:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=390027227163
It clearly states the made as Brodit.
However, the installation instructions I got with it is a sheet of paper in a pretty poor state, headed "Scorpion automotive" as opposed to Brodit.
the holder is L shaped, about 4 inches long. That doesn't look very promissing to me as I would imagine the radio is longer than that.

Your seller has traded a number of these items since 31-01-09 but as yet there has been no feedback left by any of the listed buyers. Seller claims to have lots of these items made by a variety of manufacturers. If the product that you have bought was described as by a specific manufacturer and that is not the case then reject the item amd claim back the full purchase costs.

I can tell you that that is not a brodit item. If you google dsldevelopments you will find a web site that sells only brodit items. I have used brodit stuff for years, and have never once had an issue with them, and the longest it has taken to fit one is about 5 mins at most. Infact here is the web site for you.

No idea what age your car is, so here is the link to the page you need, all you have to do is enter the age of your car to see the clips available for that model. Hope this helps you.
