240 Windscreen Replacement
Hi All,
Have a '91 240 estate. Windscreen cracked without direct cause about 6 weeks ago, and after 3 appointments Autoglass have confirmed to me they think the part is obsolete. Has anyone dealt with replacing one recently? No volvo dealers or specialist classic car repair places will touch a new windscreen from the few I've called. There may be some underlying rust that caused the crack but there isn't any obviously around where the crack originated. Waiting for insurers response to Autoglass but want to get ahead and set out some options. Best, Matt Brown |

I have had a windscreen replaced on my 1988 240 estate a couple of years back:~
Is the '91 different? Replaced under the insurance policy and quite straightforward, took a week or so to locate one- screens are now bonded (see other posts relating to what can be done here) If you do have rust under the seals then now is the time to treat all areas. Good luck. Bob. |

Hi Matt,
No direct experience on 240’s but you might want to try Pilkington as they have loads of options listed on the website. https://www.pilkington.com/en-gb/uk/...els?make=volvo Whether they actually have any in stock, is of course a rather different question. Cheers Steve |

You can use the pre 91 screen and this trim https://www.classicswede.org/shop/24...creen-surround

Don't use AutoGlass, they're totally incompetent.

Many thanks everyone. That’s given me a bit of piece of mind!
Will approach pilkington and others as suggested. Best, Matt |

Did you fit your new screens yourselves? Or can you recommend any fitters in the Southwest?

RHD impossible to find, the LHD and early type are not so hard but you can use the LHD motor to rebuild a RHD one.
