Going to see a S60 SE today:

2006 (56)
D5 185bhp auto
3 owners
100k mileage

Cambelt done at 88k
Brakes have just been done
FSH

Extras:
Sat nav
Heated seats
Rear parking sensors

MOT TILL JUNE 2015

Is this worth it for £3,000?

IF everything is as it should be, yes, it looks like OK value. I recently paid £1700 for a 2004 (53 plate) at 76K miles without cambelt change and with a few issues (intercooler and battery needed replacement, both of which I did myself). I wish I had stuck to my original offer of £1500, but there you go. I also changed the cambelt and auxiliary belts (plus associated tensioners and idler pulleys), handbrake shoes, top engine mount and I flushed the PAS fluid).

Current cost with everything done that needed to be done: about £2200 (£100 over the sellers original asking price). So maybe you have a bit of room to haggle there .

2200 for a low mileage s60 d5 is pretty sweet really. I have a 2004 d5 with 81k on the clock and it's great. Funny thing is, people pay a lot more for crapper cars.

p.s prepare your wallet! I went from a v40 to s60 and phew, everything costs so much!

Yes, very true. And you do get A LOT of car for your money with these Volvos (and with the S/V40 range before)

I've already noticed! My S40 is currently on 176K and hardly ever needs anything doing to it.

Oh, and the smoother ride of the S60 made me speed yesterday, and I reckon that I got zapped by the speed camera van. D'Oh.

Sat nav has the disc error issue.

What's the solution to this?

The car is up for £3,500 but I have managed to bring it down to £3,000 due to couple of things that need doing like a tyre replacing and a small scratch repair.

As I have been looking the 185 do tend to be priced higher than the 163, so assuming that is why this will cost more along with it being a younger car?

Plus I'll save on travel as it's only down the road from
Me compared to a journey which could be a distance away.

And I guess the 'facelift' brings a premium. I tend to look for 'end of range' (the late years before a model change) as usually the problems have been ironed out.

I'll next be looking at replacing my 2004 with the 2008/09 model in a few years.

Sometimes it's the disc that's damaged or you may find running the correct Volvo cleaning disc may bring it back, although often the drive needs a new laser.

So great news, I have bought the car and I think I am glad I went for the 185bhp.

So couple issues, I think a couple speakers on drivers side have stopped working so need to find replacements and need to sort the DVD drive out.

Apart from that, it's a cracking motor!
