V50 1.6D worrying squirting/squeaking noise
Hi!
My v50 1.6D drive diesel has started making a weird squirting noise from what seems to be the injectors: It changes with engine RPM, disappears once the engine is warm and doesn't seem to affect performance. I bought it to a mechanic but the noise disappeared before getting there, after my description and the video below he recommended I use a £40 bottle of injector cleaner (that he sells) and rev the engine on the motorway. Video Any idea if this would work? Or do I have a serious issue? Thanks |

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t2FZbKUivEI There are some comments saying that the noise could be in regard with the Cylinder head chain and tensioner.... Do not spend money for injector cleaner, the noise is not from there. I have changed the auxiliary belt and the tensioner and the noise is still there. I am thinking of removing the auxiliary belt and start the engine when cold, to see if the noise is still there. Anyway, I have got used with it.

I'd really like to find out where it's from even if it isn't an urgent problem, it appeared out of nowhere and I'm worried that something will break while I'm on holiday. If you do find out please tell me! Last edited by VroomVroomBoom; Jun 3rd, 2019 at 22:25. |
