V50 Remote Keyfob requires 3 presses to lock car
Hi all, looking for some help on a weird niggling issue.
On my V50 key I now need to press the lock, unlock, approach light and boot release buttons 3 times in quick succession to trigger the action. This started last week; as I approached my car in the office car park, I pressed the unlock button & nothing happened. I Assumed the battery had died so I touched the key to windscreen as a last resort (Done this in the past when I'd locked/unlocked the car too much) and it opened. I replaced the battery as soon as I got home. Upon reflection there had been multiple key presses in each instance, including testing the new battery. Now the key works as it always has and at long range; it just needs three button presses to lock or unlock! I've not been able to find any mention of this issue on the internet whatsoever. Cheers. |

V50 Electrics : - V50 Remote
The same problem has started for me over the last few days. I can only lock or unlock the car by pressing the key fob three times. Did you ever manage to find a cause/solution?

Weird. It's not RF interference is it?

It returned to normal after about 2 weeks... Not happened since. I can't remember if I tried the spare.

Did anyone ever get to the bottom of this? My 2005 S40 2.0D has just started doing it today. No word of a lie, it works perfectly from long range as long as you press the required button 3 times. I'm glad I found this thread as I was doubting my sanity.

Update. 3 days later and it resolved itself. All through today I had to press 3 times to get it to do anything then this evening I approached the car and it worked normally. I have no idea what caused the behavior or what resolved it. If you do experience this problem though it seems you just have to wait it out and it goes away by itself. I've owned the car for 10 years and never had this issue before. I'm pleased it is resolved though.
