Default steering wheel moving on its own

hi
this is hard to explain but when i am steering left for example round a roundabout i can feel the steering wheel trying to pull me the other way ever so slightly if you dont hold the wheel tight you can watch it move left to right a few mm on its own! it also does this when sitting still if you put a slight bit of pressure on it,i am getting a squeek coming from near the belts not a slip but a squeek could this be related? it sounds the same as when i had a warped pulley on my astra

its like a pulsation

Hi, my previous car was a V40 1.9d which had a similar problem. Going around roundabouts or tight curves the steering would try to centre itself sometimes with a slight judder. The cause was a worn tie rod end bearing, the rod end bearing is seated in a rubber cup which perishes and could be the source of the squeak. An easy diy fix with plenty of videos on YouTube etc.

You didn't say which model you had but This happens on the old XC90, it needs a new rack ...
