T-5R Nivomat rear shocks
Hello All
The Nivomat rear shocks on my T-5R (build code S3YEKPL) have seen better days and I'm looking to replace them, but I'm having difficulty confirming the correct part number. My Volvo's have been maintained by Tony at IVS in Letchworth and he tells me Volvo no longer supply the original units for my car (9140238). I've also looked on the ZF Webcat site and they list a Sachs shock (444213) for my car, a unit that has a Volvo Part Number (8626028). Having spoken to Mike at FFR, he can supply (8626028), but it's listed for cars with a build code of F or R where mine has an E. ie (xxxFxxx or xxxRxxx). His concern is that although this shock would fit my car, it may give an incorrect ride height for a T-5R. Can any one throw any light on which Nivomat shocks are correct for my car. Many thanks, Chris

When I had my 850T5 a few years ago, I replaced the Nivomats with standard springs and dampers, a kit from PFS was cheaper than one Nivomat.
Obviously not an option if you want to stay with the Nivomats... |

Hi, just wondering if you ended up using part #8626030 instead of 9140238 ?
from what i have seen they seem to be similar but no one seems to be able to confirm if there are any differences? or did you find another solution? |

As the OP hasn't been on the forum for six months you may be waiting for an answer for some time.

Hello
I ended up finding a 2nd hand pair of Nivos in good condition apart from the rubber boots and so I also purchased a pair of boots from FRF. Chris @ FRF could not confirm that the boots I had found were correct, but they were the only option. They fitted just fine and if you need some let me know and I'll find the part number I purchased. I did however, do a lot of research into new Nivos before finding the used ones and as 9140238 has not been available for a very long time, I would have purchased 8626030, which I seem to remember are the only current option with the lower (sports) ride height. Hope this helps, Chris

Thanks for getting back to me. The problem with the ones I have are the boots. I thought the boots couldn't be bought separate but if you have the part number that would be great !!!
I think I came up with the same conclusions as you that I could get the new part 8626030 but no one would tell me if it would be a match or fit properly. |

I purchased 2 x 1387105 from FRF in 2019 and list price was £11.80 + vat each
I sat them in hot water for a while and greased the end of the shock, then a friend and I managed to pull them over and then I think I used a cable tie around the top and bottom to hold them in place.

Thanks very much for all this info, replacing the boots is a job I need to do on mine as soon as I can, I'll get those part numbers ordered. I love the self-levelling function of the Nivos, and it seems that replacing the perished boots is going to be a sensible way to prolong their life.
Cheers!
