Default A big thankyou to the web masters and the club in general.

.. and to all forum members.

This forum is without doubt the most civilised, well run and helpful I have ever come across,

Now that I have to sell my beloved 145 and cross over to VW Camperland I have to say a HUGE thank you to everyone involved including the fantastic membership !!!! A big pat onthe bacjk to you all - I shall miss you.

One example of how good this site is - I posted a question on the Audi site for my wifes A2 - after 2 weeks only one , snotty, pedantic and unhelpful answer. I asked the question here not expecting a reply... 4 Replies! - all helpful and I solved an Audi problem on a Volvo Site!

See what I mean? First class!

I've lpg converted quite afew campers - my experience has been that nearly all of them were crying out for repairs. Nearly halve had leaking rear wheel cylinders, one arrived on recovery vehicle with clutch gone, several had faulty exhausts, one a lethal tyre, quite a few with tired engines and several with poor consition suspension. I have come across the odd good one and they certainly have a lot of character. It certainly seems the addage "buyer beware" applies wth these vehicles.

Thanks again Iain & Mike - I may well take you up on that!

Mine is a 1985 water cooled 2 litre. I did see some horrors out there but this one was owned for fifteen years by a retired couple who then passed it on to their grandaughter who I bought it from. The upshot is it has only done 45,000 from new so it hasn't suffered the normal Vdub camper history of being bought by Auzzies/Kiwis/S.African students and thrashed around Europe every summer for the last ten years!

However I can see I'll have to be careful as the boxer/watercooled engine seems to have been a bit of a compromise on VWs part and there are inherant weakspots in the design.

Oh for a B20 engined camper!
