Solid/ hydraulic Lifter swap
Hey Guys
I am in somewhat of a bind and was hoping to get some answers. I will forgo details and dive in. I have c70 with a blown head gasket, the engine is a B5234T. This head on the engine currently has solid lifters. I have another head off of a different engine that has been completely reconditioned, but it has hydraulic lifters. I am ignorant of the Reasons why my 2.3 did not have hydraulic lifters to begin with, and I’m hesitant to use a head that has hydraulic lifters. Will power output or performance be diminished by using a head with hydraulic lifters? Is there a downside to using this other head? I am in the process of adding some power upgrades, including a tune. Should I be concerned about the different lifters? Along the same lines, Is It possible to put the cam and solid lifters from head that is on the car into the head that was reconditioned? I assume no, but I’d really like to. One more question regarding cam covers. Can I take one and use it in another? I thought I read somewhere that the cam cover and head are machined as a matched set and are not interchangeable. Is this correct? Thanks for reading. If there any questions for clarification, feel free to ask. |

The only reason I can think is the later models are fitted with VVT. Possible the hydraulic lifters don't like it.
