Hi the issue of the wet carpets is probably due to water getting in because of failure of the windscreen bonding very common on the p3 generation of Volvos try pushing the top of the windscreen on either side from the inside of the car if it lifts up slightly the bonding has failed fix is either to reseal the windscreen or to replace I did this through my insurance on my v70, another cause could be sunroof drains if your v70 has one they can become clogged or disconnected and cause water to drain into the car hope this helps 👍

Mostly likely it's the windscreen sealant failure, had this on mine as well and got it resealed. The dehumidifier pulled over 5L of water out of the floor mats. Mine was so bad you could hear the water running under the carpet when you braked!

Hi I’m not sure that’s the only 2 issues that are the most common that I know of very well could be a blocked a/c drain but my theory would be that if the windscreen is solid and has no movement would mean it’s either already been resealed if it’s the original Volvo windscreen or replaced my thought is it could be the water leftover from the previous leak and it’s still sitting with nowhere to go. I personally would remove and dry the interior carpets. Use the car without them for a few days until it rains and see if it’s still dry but all depends on how much time you have as it is quite a time consuming job, when I had my leak on my c30 due to blocked sunroof drains the carpets started to smell of damp which is a pain to get rid of after a while.

From personal experience with my XC60, the best way to dry the carpets in this weather is to remove them and dry them inside. That way, you can get a micro fibre cloth in the spaces under the carpets and dry the car properly, between all the ducts and cables, connectors etc.

I then dried the carpets partly by laying flat on the underfloor heating in my extension, followed by an overnight in front of my log burner as it cooled.

Carpets out Saturday morning and back in Sunday morning. No stinky smells.
