Fixed one problem and am rewarded with another.
Looks like the steering column lock module has gone faulty. Had a Google and am going to have a go cleaning it and lubricating. First problem is how do I remove the column cover? I have removed the 3 torx screws but cannot separate the top on bottom cover. Any tips? Cheers Simon |

There's a video on the tube of you in which a chap has already removed the column shroud but he only mentions three screws. There is a fleeting view of the shroud but not enough to glean any info.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=B0HTbDftz30 I would hazard a guess that it's just held with interlocking clips so a careful lever with a bone tool should reveal all. I usually spray the joins with silicone thin air stuff plastic clips.Dave breaking things. You'll win some Brownie points on here if you do a pictorial how to instructional. |

What an absolute total nightmare.
Its started by trying to cut slots in the bolts and ended up a butcher job. Cannot get the module to come off, have ended up cutting the head of the bolt off and splitting the metal it bolts to , the module wiggles but won't drop. Any ideas? |

If you've sheared the heads of the security holding studs but the lock unit is only loose it would suggest there is still the ends of the the studs inside.
Looking at the video the steering column steel housing is just thin sheet steel. Can you not sprag that open either side to release the lock. Then you can drill out the remnants of the studs. Are you able to post a couple of pictures of where your at? |

Its beat me for today, looking at it the module will go forward but cannot go further because of the back plate, it goes back but the studs prevent it going back further. Next step is the get the studs out somehow as I presume its got to go back to drop out
