Not to steal the thread but my 87 240DL carb with Bendix-Rex Ignition is having similar issues. It will ALWAYS start instantly but once running it will missfire on all four cylinders and at the same time the tach drops out. Sometimes at idle, sometimes at full throttle and sometime while cruising at 60mph. Each time the engine stutters for a split second and continues on going like nothing happened. It has never been bad enough to stop the engine though.
I shot a bunch of wires going to and from the Ecu and found a break in the CPS wire about 2 feet from the connector on the firewall near the head. With the engine running I could work the sensor wire around and kill the engine fairly reliably. Fixed that and replaced the coil with non OEM but still brand new.
Problem exists exactly as before, although slightly less often while cruiseing and udner throttle. At idle same as before.
If anybody thinks I should start a new thread just for this let me know.

Default Crank sensor issue

Hi,

I think I have the same ignition system than yours;

Do you think I can replace my sensor (Part.no. 1336660) with the more common sensor (Volvo part 3547847)?

It appears my sensor has only two wires instead of three. Do they work the same way? Is Volvo part 3547847 a magnetic sensor (and not hall effect sensor)?

Thanks a lot for your help.
