Anyone had their brake calipers refurbished by a company?
Hi all,
Considering options for a brake overhaul and wondering if anyone has had their brake calipers refurbished by a company? I've rebuilt enough calipers on previous cars and motorbikes to know I don't want to do it again, so looking for either a company to send my calipers to for refurbishment or a company that can supply already refurbished ones on an exchange basis. Any comments? Recommendations? Thanks in advance S. |

Hi
I used a company near Chelford who do nothing but brake refurbs. They also do mail order. http://classicbrake.co.uk/ I had all my calipers and carriers refurbished with new seals and pistons and bleed screws and cleaned and plated for about £60 per corner. The price does depend on the condition of the material you send them. HTH

My local motorfactors does a this thing where you buy a new caliper from them and when you take an old one back they give you £15 refund as it's done on exchange basis.
Saves hassle. |

Try Brakes International as I was a lot cheaper buying complete units than getting them refurbished from the factors I have an account with.
But give them a phone rather than using there website. There service I found was first rate |

I reeeeaaaalllly need a caliper for the rear nearside on my car as the current one is braking a fair bit harder than the others which i suspect may be due to corrosion in the cylinder....? I looked at PFV and they do one for £60, plus £18 deposit, plus VAT, plus postage, plus the postage of the return caliper (gonna be about £18 i reckon knowing the law of sod) so your looking at around £100.
Trouble is nowadays theres no 240s in any of the diwndling number of scrapyards around.
