Hi All,
I am hoping you can help as I puzzle over my next car. Currently I have a 2011 S60 D5 Auto SE Lux which has served me well for the last 3 years. My conundrum is that I have 3 kids (13,11 and 6), the family needs are served very well with my wife’s Smax but I do prefer driving the Volvo on occasion if we all go out. The S60 rear seats seem to slope when you sit in the back and regardless of whether the youngest uses a high back booster or a small booster seat someone is complaining. I have a couple of questions. Is the room (seating position) in the back of an XC60 better more accommodating than the S/V60? I wonder whether the more upright seat in the XC60 prevents the slouching in the back as the passengers gravitate towards the middle. Does anyone know the distance between the 2 integrated boosters seats in an XC60 (with that option). I wonder whether the 6 year old could use this seat and leave enough space in the middle seat for one of the other kids. I would be interested in the views of anyone who has had both S/V60 and a XC60 to see how they compare. Thanks in advance. STM |

I looked at buying a V60 when I decided to replace my V50 but I found there was little if any more space in the back so decided on a XC60.
I am 6ft 1in so my test is always how much space is behind the driver when I have set the seat for me. With the XC60 I can get 3 adults in the back with no problems. The seating feels more upright and I have the family pack and can get an adult between the booster seats but its a bit tight. I think you should be ok with a child as the gap is about 36cm, if you only use 1 booster seat then you should be ok. |

Thanks Nozmeister for taking the time to provide such a detailed response, I was sure there would be someone who has been in a similar boat.
Being much shorter than you, legroom is room is less of an issue and having sat in the back today it was clear that you tend to slide towards the centre due to the angle and seat bolster. I just need to get the kids to try one now but am assured that I wasn’t going mad. Cheers STM |
