Does it relate to the xenon headlights?
There's usually a little lever on the suspension that sets this

If you have Xenon lights there will be no level adjustment thumbwheel on the dashboard. This system has it's own ECU to control the headlight alignment and direction, and it's very much proprietary Volvo. Hence your best bet is to get a Volvo dealer or Indie with the appropriate diagnostics to read the codes. It's often just a simple sensor issue, but sometimes the motors in the headlights themselves which are expensive, but sometimes available on e-bay second hand.

the ride height position sensor is on the right rear control arm of the vehicle, it also controls the suspension if you have the electronically adjustable four c(mine failed and it was very interesting ride!)
lights will point to their lowest point all the time to avoid dazzling others. sensor was about 90£ and half an hour or so to fit have seen reference to one at the front also but mines was the rear faulty hope that helps |

There is sensors on the front and rear axles as the system needs to calculate the angle (pitch) of the car as well as the ride height.
It needs to be plugged in and the codes read - otherwise changing any parts is poke and hope lottery diagnosis....
