Default Wing mirror-no cold air-smell of fumes

Hi all,
Hopefully you’re able to help. Just picked up an old 2009 and though I’m really impressed I need some advice

I can smell fumes when out side air is selected… any common places to start??

I don’t have any cold air, not I know first reaction is air on gas but it’s cold out today and even on low it’s kicking out hot air! Any thoughts?

Auto fold mirrors - when it unlocks it goes to a crazy position on the passenger side, any common fixes / advice

Thanks in advance all!!!

On the door mirrors, if they're like my V60 you can carefully prise off the upper 'cap' part. Inside you will see two white plastic tabs/levers which just slot in to a groove at each side and act as springs for the movement. Might be worth a free look? YouTube might help.

Hi it’s an 2009 xc60. Mirrors open automatically. When I unlock the car the passenger one opens but keeps going to far so you can’t see anything.

Do the plastic things inside tell it what the limit is( ie when to stop)?

Anyone any ideas on the fumes and heating?

I’ve found a build up around one of the injectors so a bit of smell might be coming from a bad seal. But it feels to strong to just be that

Yes, a bit like door stops. I had the mirror caps off and they fell out easily so maybe one is loose?

Fumes in cabin (if not injector) could be exhaust manifold/pipework leak. I had smoke in cabin from split in EGR pipe although not sure if a 2009 has EGR.

One down!
Couple hours on the mirror and I found the pin. There was just one and it was seriously oxadised in, took some gorse to free it up but now working a treat. Saved me £200
Thanks for the help on that one.

Now onto the fumes and heat.
