V70 R smoke test leaks
I did a smoke test today on my R as it seems to be low on power at low rpm.
Found smoke billowing out of the intake pipe where it joins to the turbo inlet, the pipe connecting to the air filter box. There seems to be a tab on the side of the pipe facing the floor where it is coming out. Is it time for a new pipe?? Also a small hole at the bottom of my intercooler although this looks to be intentionally machined into it, could it be a drain for water etc?? I also found a cracked pipe going round to the PCV but I easily fixed that with some hose laying around. Anyone any experience with smoke tests on these??

Yes, the small hole in the intercooler is there intentionally, I think it's there to drain any unwanted fluid that may have got in, such as an accumulation of oil.
Sounds like your main turbo pipe is the one that needs attention, can't tell from your description if you need a whole new pipe, others on here will probably know.

If the turbo has been replaced there may not be a slot on the inlet housing for that tab.
Have a look around with an inspection mirror. P80 don't like unmetered air. Quote:
